Project Zeus

Zeus is an ongoing restoration that will be completed by April 2025,  we are calling it a house special. We've always wanted to build something with an incredibly high spec using all of our skill to build something that is truly astonishing, with a unique bled on modern refinement and classic heritage undertones. 

Zeus is a TD5 with a 5 speed manual transmission. We started this build with a very iconic factory owned vehicle. A heritage certificate shows Land Rover as the first owner, being a 1998 model this would have been one of the very first TD5's off the production line. We have started this restoration from the ground up and have included a full 4 corner self levelling air suspension set up the likes of which are fitted to modern range rovers. With added features such as Fox shocks and anti roll bars for road handling. Other features include horizon levelling meaning you can have a level vehicle no matter what the ground condition, great if you are into camping. The air suspension also has rear controls meaning hitching and unhitching a trailer is made easy from the rear door. 

Zeus has a fully bespoke interior retried in high quality leather in a tan colour called saddle. With double diamond stitching and an aged appearance. Zeus also features a host of modern technology including a their 3 sound deadening. This is 3 layers of sound proofing in the form of under body Lizard skin acoustic sound killer. A liquid sprayed onto surfaces to stop outside noises getting into the cabin. The second layer is Dynamat. The highest quality panel resonance reducing material available. This is applied inside and covers more then 70% of the internal surfaces. The third layer is a closed cell foam. This takes the road noise down a significant amount. All this together makes for the quietest internal space possible in a Defender. 

We have an installation plan for a full range of modern electronics, with the usual creature comforts of electric windows, air conditioning, central locking, auxiliary heater, heated seats, heated windscreen, led internal lights, and much more. We have a 9 speaker in car entertainment system that connects via bluetooth for handsfree calling and music. With a host of other functions such as Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The system we will be installing is of the highest sound quality and includes a range of audio aspects for bass, mid and high tones. A panoramic experience.

Every single nut, bolt washer and fixing has been restored or replaced including a full engine rebuild and fully rebuilt transmission and transfer box. 

Zeus is painted in a modern Land Rover colour called Nara Bronze. It is a metallic colour and is accompanied with black contrasting roof and arches, fitted with a 20" black alloy wheel. Giving an aggressive modern stance. We have also fitted a panoramic glass roof, panoramic glass side panels and a fixed panoramic moon roof in place of the old sun roof. 

The TD5 was the dawn of a new era for Land Rover. It is a 5 cylinder electronic injection producing 122 BHP. The engine was designed to fall into euro emissions regulations and as such was detuned by the factory. This is a tune that we have unlocked, allowing the engine to produce its full potential. With our tuning these engines achieve unto 180 BHP safely, making keeping up with modern traffic a breeze. The engine marked a pinnacle point for Land Rover when they had to modernise their engines with electronics for the first time in the Defender. These changes resulted in some of the following key points.

• Completely new feel and sound

The TD5 transforms the way the Defender feels compared to earlier models. With some very subtle amendments inside the cabin such as back lit dials you can see clearly, digital odometer and new security features such as an immobiliser made the car feel the same whilst solving problems from the its predecessors. 

Zeus comes with an inclusive warranty for 12 months or 12,000 miles. Extensions are available and can be discussed at the point of purchase. We will organise a repair with our approved and vetted professionals worldwide. If no local repairer can be found we will personally attend your vehicle to conduct any repairs required for a completely hassle free experience.
